Day 1: Overnight Flight
Join on this inspirational journey to Poland, one
of Europe's most fascinating countries. This program offers you the
opportunity to visit the country's holiest shrines, and explore the
land that the late Pope John Paul II called home.
Day 2: Arrive Warsaw, Poland - Tour
Begins
Your tour begins in Warsaw, Poland's capital city. Upon arrival, the
remainder of your day is at leisure. This evening, join your fellow
travelers for a special welcome dinner.
Day 3: Warsaw
Celebrate Holy Mass at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Next, learn
about the enormous impact the Catholic church had on this region
during an expert led discussion on the "role of the Catholic church
in Poland." Visit a special exhibition devoted to Father Jerzy
Popieluszko, one of the most charismatic priest leaders of
Solidarity in Poland, who was murdered by the communist secret
service. Later, join a local expert on a guided city tour exploring
Warsaw's old town, beautiful Market Square, Lazienki Park, and the
Warsaw Jewish Ghetto, dedicated to the victims of Nazi brutality.
Day 4: Warsaw - Swinice Warckie -
Czestochowa
Join the local parishioners in celebrating Holy Mass at St. James
Church. Next, journey to Swinice Warckie for a visit to St. Casimir
Church, where St. Faustina was baptized Helena Kowalska. Later,
continue to Czestochowa and Poland's greatest pilgrimage shrine, Our
Lady of Czestochowa. Then, visit Jasna Gora Monastery, where more
than 5 million pilgrims flock yearly to pay their respects to the
world-renowned Black Madonna. The monastery's pilgrimage tradition
dates back to the 14th century and was frequently visited by Pope
John Paul II. A resident clergy provides an enriching tour of the
Monastery and its sacred icon.
Day 5: Czestochowa - Zakopane
Attend Holy Mass at the Pauline Monastery and admire such wonderful
artifacts as the Miraculous Icon and the Treasury Room with its
priceless collection of gifts given to the monastery throughout the
ages. Later, your travels continue to the popular Alpine resort
village of Zakopane, nestled in the magnificence of the Tatra
Mountains. Enjoy time at leisure to explore the town's beautiful
wooden architecture, churches, and surrounding mountain scenery.
Day 6: Zakopane - Wadowice - Krakow
Travel to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, Poland's second most popular
pilgrimage center. Near the Bernardine Father Monastery are the
famous Calvary paths, with churches, chapels and wayside shrines
imitating the topography of Jerusalem. Pope John Paul II often
walked the Calvary paths and prayed before the beautiful painting of
the Zebrzydowska Mother of God. Celebrate Holy Mass at the sanctuary
before you continue to Wadowice, birthplace of the late Holy Father.
Visit the house where Pope John Paul II was born, followed by a
visit to Wadowice Basilica where he was baptized as a child and
attended church. Your day comes to an end in the magnificent city of
Krakow.
Day 7: Krakow - Auschwitz - Krakow
Celebrate Holy Mass at the 13th century St. Mary's Church, one of
Poland's most famous churches. A local expert provides an
interesting "In the Footsteps of John Paul II" tour of Krakow. Your
tour features the Bishop's Palace where the late Holy Father, Karol
Wojtyla, used to live; St. Florian's Church, where he was vicar; and
the beautiful St. Franciscan Church, his favorite place of prayer.
In addition, you will see Franciszkanska Street with the famous
"pope's window" where John Paul greeted the locals during his
pilgrimages to Poland, and Collegium Novum where he lectured in
theology. In the afternoon you travel to Auschwitz, the notorious
Nazi concentration camp. You will see the cell that imprisoned St.
Maximillian Kolbe and the Martyrdom Museum recalling the horrors of
the Holocaust.
Day 8: Krakow - Full Day Visit to
Lagiewniki
Today you depart for Lagiewniki where the message of the Divine
Mercy was passed on to St. Faustina. Visit St. Faustina's tomb,
convent chapel, and the Shrine of Divine Mercy. You will also visit
the Sanctuary that houses the image of Merciful Jesus and the relics
of St. Faustina.
Day 9: Krakow - Lowicz - Warsaw
This morning's Holy Mass is at the 14th century St. Catherine's
Church. Later, travel to Lowicz, a lovely town of the Mazovia region
famous for its art, crafts and the ruins of Lowicz Castle. Your
visit to the beautiful Lowicz basilica is followed by a memorable
home hosted dinner with a local family. Enjoy tasty, regional Polish
cuisine while sharing stories, cultures and lifestyles in a typical
Polish home. Your day comes to an end in Warsaw.
Day 10: Warsaw - Tour Ends
Tour tour ends, leaving you with everlasting memories of your trip
to Poland, celebrating the life and times of the late Holy Father,
John Paul II.

beautifully restored Royal Palace in Warsaw to Old Square in Krakow,
where buildings have remained virtually unchanged for almost 700
years, this spiritual journey features Poland's most important
religious sites and shrines. See the historic monasteries, churches
and pilgrimage centers associated with the Catholicism's long
history in Poland and religious figures like St. Faustina; patron
saint St. Stanislaus; Solidarity priest leader Father Jerzy
Popieluszko; and of course, Polish-born Karol Wojtyla, better-known
to the world as Pope John Paul II. Join a local expert in Krakow for
a tour that explores some of the places where Pope John Paul lived
and worked as a priest and bishop including St. Franciscan Church,
his favorite place for prayer and the college where he taught
theology. See the Black Madonna, the icon of the Blessed Mother at
the Jasna Gora Monastery, one of the most important places of
religious worship in the Christian world. Visit the Auschwitz cell
of Polish Franciscan friar Saint Maximilian Kolbe, who volunteered
to die in the place of another prisoner in 1941 at the age of 47. A
special highlight of this journey is a memorable evening in the home
of a local family, where they will share Polish cuisine, stories and
cultures.
